kS1 and kS2 Results 2017
This is the second year of the new testing and assessment arrangements for Year 2.
At the end of KS1 teachers are required to assess each child in the areas of reading, writing, maths and science. National Curriculum tests are used to support teachers’ judgements. Attainment was high in 2017. Harlands was above the national average in every subject. We are particularly pleased with the % pupils attaining GDS in Reading.
The system of national curriculum levels has been removed and new measures are in place. Children are now expected to achieve the “Expected Standard” (ES) for their year group.
End of KS1 SATS
|Reading I- ES||83%||73%||76%|
|Reading - GDS||50%||19%||25%|
|Writing - ES||73%||60%||68%|
|Writing - GDS||30%||10%||16%|
|Maths - ES||80%||70%||75%|
|Maths - GDS||25%||13%||21%|
|Science - ES||95%||80%||83%|
|R, W & M - ES||65%||56%||64%|
Children in Year 6 also took part in the new testing and assessment arrangements.
The new curriculum provides greater challenge with higher expectations set for the end of KS2.
The results of the SATs (tests) are reported using a scaled score where the highest score is 120 and the lowest is 80. A score of 100 represents reaching the expected standard. ASS represents Average Scaled Score.
In Writing and Science, the children are assessed by TA teacher assessment.
Year 6 children were assessed in reading, writing, grammar, punctuation, spelling, maths and science.
Our results are, once again extremely pleasing especially in both Reading and Maths at GDS. Harlands pupils performed well, above the local authority and national averages in all subjects.
