Sussex Schools Tennis Champions

On Saturday, 19th June, Hawthorn class flew the flag for Harlands as they provided all 11 members of the school's winning team, who were crowned Sussex schools' tennis champions, at the Devonshire Park tennis complex in Eastbourne.

With the ATP and WTA tour finals taking place soon after the primary schools' event, there was a real buzz amongst all those present as the best primary school teams from East and West Sussex gathered on the outside courts immediately adjacent to the centre court.

The festival, which challenged pupils to display their tennis skills during a series of rallies, relays and serving games, culminated in singles matches between  representatives from each school team. Points scored during the challenge events and singles matches helped to contribute to each team's overall score.

Harlands emerged as tournament winners, with all their team members hopefully making their first steps on a successful journey up the ladder towards tennis stardom.
