Sport

Sport is an important part of school life, whether it be in PE lessons or in an after hours club. There are also lots of opportunities for you to take up a sport outside school too. Sport can help to keep you fit and it’s lots of fun. Finding the right sport for you can take a few tries but once you’ve found one you enjoy you will have that enjoyment for life!

At Harlands, if you haven’t yet, you will get the chance to try out team games including netball, football, basketball, cricket, rounders and softball, gymnastics, athletics, cross-country running and swimming.

Our teams compete in Mid-Sussex Primary School Tournaments in football, basketball, netball, cricket, cross-country, athletics and swimming and have been very successful in local, county and national events.

Sports Clubs/Coaching

Cricket coaching is available each term on Monday and Tuesday evenings, for both boys and girls, with each year group being allocated a different term.  It is provided by a coach from Sussex County Cricket Club.

Hockey Club will run for year 4 and 5 girls during the Autumn term on Wednesday evening.

Tag Rugby (year 3) and Netball (year 5 and 6 girls) will take place on Thursday evenings during the Autumn term.

During the school year there are other sporting activities during the lunchtime eg netball, football and cricket.  Announcements about these are usually made during the whole school assembly on Monday morning, so listen carefully to what the teachers have to say about the week's sporting activities!
