Harlands PTA Officers

From January 2017 the following officers will be in post:

(Co)-Chair(s)          Kim Harris and Richard Boyce

Secretary               Amanda Radford-Dobson

Treasurer               Andrew Bennett

What is Harlands PTA?

It is the school PTA and a registered charity.  We raise funds for the school - going beyond what the school can provide - and we organise fun social events, some for children, some for parents and some for both.

What is the money spent on?

In the last couple of years, funds raised by the PTA have been used to purchase a new PA system, picnic benches for outdoor eating and study, restoration of the long jump pit, and numerous small purchases for school clubs and projects.  We have already donated the play equipment in the infant playground, and a magnificent Harlands Fort for the Junior play area.

Who runs it?

The PTA is run by a Committee consisting of two Co-Chairs, a Secretary, a Treasurer and a number of Committee members.  The Committee meets regularly to plan events (such as the Summer and Christmas Fairs, the school discos for the children) and to discuss spending plans.  It is a really good way to get to know other parents and get involved in school life.  All parents at the school are automatically members of the PTA, and all parents are welcome to join the Committee, especially parents new to the school.

How can I help?

There are many ways to help, from supporting the events that we run by coming along to them, volunteering to help out at events, or by donating items for events.  You may decide to become more formally involved by joining the Committee, but you do not have to be on the Committee to attend meetings, and you do not have to come to every meeting if you are on the Committee.  You decide how much you would like to be involved.

How do I find out more?

Come along to our next meeting (advertised in the school newsletter and noticeboards), drop a note into the school office marked for the Attention of the PTA, or e-mail us at harlandspta@gmail.com.  We also have our own website, harlandspta.org.uk and a Facebook page, the link to which is on our website.

Harlands PTA (FOH) Easyfundraising

Do you shop online?

The Harlands PTA (ex Friends of Harlands) are now registered with a fundraising scheme which enables us to raise money through shopping.

Just log on to easyfundraising.org.uk and use the links to hundreds of retailers such as Next, John Lewis, Amazon, ToysRUs. Place your order as normal and when prompted to choose your cause or charity, click on the "Harlands PTA". That's it!  The PTA will then be awarded a percentage of your order total with no extra cost to you.

It doesn't just stop at Christmas - you can use it to buy holidays, insurance, all sorts.  If we all did our online shopping this way we would raise hundreds of pounds!
