What is the Friends of Harlands?
The Friends of Harlands (FOH) is the school's PTA. It has charitable status as a fund raising organisation (registered charity no. 800232). The money is used entirely for the benefit of the children in the school.
All parents and teachers automatically become members of the Friends of Harlands when they join the school. Each September the Friends hold their Annual General Meeting during which the Committee is elected. Anyone can be on the committee, and there is no limit to the number of people who can be on it.
The Friends hold regular meetings to discuss and plan the events to be held throughout the year. The events help to raise funds for the school, but also provide an opportunity for parents to socialize with each other, as well as entertainment for the children.
Past events have included a Quiz Night, a Ladies Night, an 80s Disco, as well as the regular Summer and Christmas Fairs. We have also organised Christmas Discos, Film Nights and a family Circus Show.
Funds raised in recent years have paid for the play equipment in the infant playground, a new library, a multi-media system for the school hall, landscaping outside the Early Years classrooms, a new cricket crease, sports kit, computer equipment, storage sheds and notice boards for the playground.
The school is very grateful for the support of the Friends of Harlands, the hard work of the Committee and the parents who give their time.
