Comic Relief - Friday, 13 March 2009
On Friday 13th March, everyone had lots of fun dressing up in their pyjamas.
Children from every class brought in money and got a sticker. The school councillors collected the money and tallied the coins (1p, 2p, 5p, 10p, 20p, 50p, £1 & £2). It was a race to collect and count the money correctly before getting it to Mrs Michael to check. In assembly, Mrs Michael gave out balloons to the quickest classes; Milligan were the winners in KS1 (collected by Laurie ) and in KS2 Bronte were the quickest (collected by Jack ). These classes got three Red Nose Day balloons, whilst all the other classes got two balloons. “Some school councillors need more numeracy lessons, as their tallies were not quite correct!” said Mrs Michael, adding "I am very grateful, however, to have had so much help from the children".
Even the teachers dressed up in their pyjamas, and in the staffroom, there was a quiz which was won by Mr Gayler.
All in all the school raised a grand total of £431.76, which has been sent off to Comic Relief. Our money will help children in Africa, because many children want to go to school, but cannot always afford to do so.
Thank you to everyone for taking part, we hope you had lots of fun!!
